Best God for MDFi?

I’ve been trying to theorycraft a Mountain Dwarf Fighter’s best God.

I was leaning towards Cheibriados since with the extra stats and since Mountain Dwarves have a decent Invocation skill and reduced spellcasting encumbrance means there’s a lot of possible flexibility, and I like trying to be flexible.

I know that timing and run drops can influence a lot, but I was wondering what Gods other people prefer?

Chei is POWERFUL but becoming slow can be very very dangerous. I’d probably lean towards Qaz, Oka, or Gozag.

Gozag can make zot trivial with bribing branch. I like that a lot. And they can round out your resistances, damage, spells, etc by buying shops and looking for jewelry. And the potion ability is also very powerful. Getting multiple effects instantly is great.

Oka is easy. Their two active effects should be used generously and the gifts of armour and weapons is great.

And Qaz is so fun and does lots of great passive things. Resistances, shields, damage all around you, noise, etc. And their active things are great with high invo that MDs excel at. Noise is their main downside, but I only think of it as a problem at branch entrances. You can stair dance if things get too heated on non-entrance levels. I like the noise because it brings the enemies to me where I know the terrain and I can retreat.

But I think you could get most gods to work with that build. Magic gods would work, more melee, etc.

Oka definitely seems good: very much the classic with the melee builds. And I do like Gozag a lot, but I hate leaving behind the value of +3 invocations.

I was actually just watching a Qaz run on youtube. It definitely seems to cover a lot of holes for a build, especially the resistances if needed, and it’s nice to have so much utility.

I was also contemplating Ashenzari, but I think that’s better for MDForgewright, since the Companion combination seems very good.

Oh yeah, Ash is GREAT. I don’t use them often because I don’t love the curse mechanic but they can get you casting high level spells really early if you get lucky enough with their options. They also allow you to round out your character more since you don’t have to spend as much XP on getting spells castable.

The best god is the one you can actually worship because you found the altar, and that doesn’t brick your character.

I feel like that’s pretty fair, but I do like to think through the possibilities of what would be the best of the best or the most flexible. Just the theorycrafting alone is fun for me :)

boring answer maybe, but makhleb really rounds off melee characters perfectly imo
