I don’t want to get my hopes up but I might have my dream character here. This feels like the character I was born to play. Human Gladiator who’s a master swordsman with some serious armor.
And the game happened to give me a double sword on D:1. I mean come on.
Cleared through D:12 and about to enter Lair. A little nervous about not having rPois yet but figure I just have to play smart. Gloves of parrying coupled with dual rings of slaying is awesome and I figure spamming TSO’s shield ability will help.

That D:1 double sword you found reminded me of the time I had a DsEE find a shop on D:1 with a randart double sword. I couldn’t afford it right away, so I trained for my starting spells first to make sure I could make it far enough to actually use the sword, which turned out to be quite good (the +9 double sword of Vikhletra (weapon) {freeze, rElec Dex+4}). I love finding endgame gear in the early game.

It was in 0.32 trunk, so I don’t know if the seed would produce the same shop and sword in a newer version.

Oh that looks like it was a fun game. Ds is one of my favorites to play. The Hurl Damnation mutation is awesome… I don’t know if I ever got that one.
And yeah getting really good gear early is such a thrill. Honestly I almost play this game more for the loot than for the game some days haha.
Oh and I found these in shops. If I can get the gold for these, we’ve got a serious contender for my first win here!

Update: cleared Lair 1-4, Orc, and D all the way to 15. Contemplating my next move right now. S branches are Swamp and Spider, and I don’t have rCorr although I do have rPois. Got a +4 Scimitar of Flaming for hydras so I’m leaning swamp.

Second rune! Spider wasn’t that bad actually. Only took a lot of stair dancing, careful navigation and summoning an angel lol.

Cleared Elf 2 including Hall of Blades (was pretty easy), and used TSO’s Holy Wrath blessing on a +2 Demon Blade I got from a unique. I’ve also got the +10 Zealot’s Sword but am wary of the berserkitis so it’s my secondary. Ready to take my first character ever (I’m pretty certain) to the Depths!

A moment of silence for my best character yet. Died on Depths:4 because I didn’t realize Quicksilver dragons could keep me from teleporting. Rest in peace, Champion of The Shining One.
