So, while playing co, i noticed a few things, overall i loved the species, dunno if anyone is interested in reading this, i’mma drop it here.
So at first glance the central co mechanic seems tob e the double wielding of weapons. And it is very strong, strongest very early, falling a bit off later. On d1 it is all upside, later on you might miss the shield or whatever you wanted to do with your other hand. The starting advantage is very important tho and gives the species a very good start across all backgrounds: just wield 2 daggers, damage is very good, melee early is a very solid fallbackplan.
Later on, the immense damage has some implications. „defensive“ weapon brands like protection feel very good since there is no need for more damage. Resists on weapons are very good, i finished one game with a +5 double sword of distort and a +3 heavy rapier! The rapier had 2 pips of cold resist and melee still felt fine. Second point ist hat you dont need 35 strength to do enough damage with your broadaxes since you have 2! So hybrids are easier to build, since you dont really need the offensive attribute.
The second very important thing on co is the evo apt with +3. That’s bonkers and by far co’s best apt: if you can find a way to use it consistently, be it stardust, evokables or an invis scarf, it’s great and makes co earlygame a lot easier. Later on 20 evo are kinda free, so get them.
Straight up mages are kinda hard on co, i think they work best with ash or chei as co has int issues with no jewelry – if you miss wiz on the gizmo it’s even harder. Mana regen can also be rough, but it’s workable especially on summons. Orbs are big here, you can get carried through the earlygame by stardust imo.
One thing i think is rough for co is shapeshifting: Shapeshifter is a bad start fort hem since uc does not use double wielding and you have no access to wildshape. Both co and shapeshifters tend to have resist issues, so that makes it worse. A lig potion is a good starting consumable tho!
Overall i think it is very interesting to have a species that likes melee more than magic (even bookstarts start often with like 14 dex, 14 int!) and is not as polarized while being like that as troll or minotaur. Thanks devs, cool species!
