I really enjoy playing DCSS with the the desktop layout has the inventory and buttons on the right side of the screen.
Is it possible to set up online play this way? I couldn’t find any information on it.
There’s no way to do this, cause, if I understand it correctly, offline and online versions are quite different under the hood, coding-wise. Personally I prefer online interface, cause it got a nice enemy list on the right, which lets you see high profile threats really easy.

I do like that feature, but it’s too much a trade off for me, I think. I like all the keys having a quick way to know them without memorization.

You know in trunk they’ve introduced consistent letters for consumables; so at least for them your problem may be solved.
Oh that’s cool! It’s still a lot of overall memory for me, so I’l’ probably continue offline for now though maybe one day.

I was struggling, transferring to play online too. The efforts totally worth it. The competition, statistics, tournaments. There is a lot of interesting activities going on. Keep trying. Absolutely.
