yes i know i had a potion of might, no im not going to use it on FUCKING IGUANA.
Hang in there. I find Vine Stalkers pretty hard. Consider Brigrand and Enchanter starts. Stealth helps. Unarmed can be good too. Some people like magic starts for the extra MP effectively adding some HP.
I noticed that you had an unworn ring of evasion, which would have improved your defenses a fair amount.
Otherwise, keep at it.
You’re underestimating iguanas! Iguana is one of the top killers for D:4! They could deal over half your hp in damage in a single hit! DCSS combat, especially with early game melee, is “swingy” in that the rng has a lot of room to make the battle go one way or the other. Planning for, and adapting to, the bad rng outcomes is part of playing the game and this is especially true when the enemy can high-roll for most of your hp.
Your defenses could have been better. You had a ring of evasion in your inventory but unworn and I probably would have used that +2 short sword of protection for a while because +7ac would have helped a bunch!
Don’t give up on vinestalker. They can be surprisingly tanky despite their low hp haha
There’s no prize for dying with the most stuff.

that’s a good point about weapon swapping though, swapping to that sword could have saved me. but i was genuinely spamming tab and didn’t bother to check my inventory since the run was so early.
that’s an interesting suggesting ill try that next time.
